Literary Orphans

Desert Saints by Aaron Wiegert

Barren, boundless and ideal,

Like the desert saints passed through

To avoid perversion, save perfection.

The angle of an attentive eye,

Pairless and lacking grit,

Sand on the tongue, feline,

As the path covers itself.

Funneled and fabled,

Rugged and marble,

Fit for a statue.
