House Of Bones by Nicole Byers

100_by_esmahanozkan-d8rlakk

I see a house. A narrow, firm foundation. Through its windows spirals a darkness deeper than a collapsed star. There is no door between those windows. Vines crawl up the exterior, probing as they attempt to gain entry, their grips so tight they chip the wood. A psychotherapist told me that in dreams a house is the symbol for the human body. In my dreams I crouch in the corner of a basement and run bones between my fingers. I write phrases in the dust, sometimes “I want to let you in.” But much more often I write “Stay Out.”
