Literary Orphans

With the Drumbeat by Nathaniel Sverlow

angelfeatqueenkitty

drums beat the night

as skyscrapers fall

down

drunk

on neon youth

dragging

around

with beautiful girls

in tow

girls

that could do a lot

better

than this town

on this night

girls

who could open

the world

like a can of sardines

but settle

with the drumbeat

as most

girls

do
